There are definitely some awesome bands, but not enough to feel bad that I'll miss this. I just have to accept the fact that I'll never be able to make it to MDF, ever. Busiest weekend of the year for work. Fail.
my goal is to make you feel worse about it. I will probably give you a boner by boner review via text message to make you feel like shit as much as possible.
We'd like to let everyone know that we've decided to utilize the second stage in the club room of Sonar and we'll be confirming roughly 50 bands total. We've never been big fans of making someone pick and choose a band to see because of two bands playing simultaneously, so bands that will perform on the second stage will not be scheduled to start until a band finishes playing on the main stage. This will allow every band on the second stage to play for at least 15-20 minutes when no other band is playing, not to mention many of the bands on the second stage won't need much more than 20 minutes to play.
With that said, we've already confirmed a lot of bands to appear on the second stage. With the exception of Pig Destroyer and Splitter, all of the bands confirmed below will be appearing on the second stage.
Also, the next band announcements we expect to make will quite possibly be the biggest announcement we've ever made in the history of MDF, so stay tuned.
Pig Destroyer (Virginia)
Splitter (Sweden)
Kill the Client (Texas)
Grief (Massachusetts)
Magrudergrind (Washington DC)
Lair of the Minotaur (Illinois)

"What better way to welcome in the Halloween weekend than with an extensive list of bands that were recently confirmed for MDF? We actually expected a few more bands to be included in this announcement, but sometimes things take a bit longer than expected. We'll follow up with another announcement of a few bands as early as next week, and that will also signify the end of the booking process for MDF 2009.
We apologize to those who were expecting tickets to go on sale earlier, but we aren’t able to set a ticket price until all bands have been confirmed. Tickets will definitely go on sale on Friday, November 7th, so check the website then.
Just announced to appear at MDF 2009:
Bolt Thrower
Enslaved
Marduk
Absu
Victims
Swallow the Sun
Birdflesh
The Red Chord
Rotten Sound
Keep of Kalessin
Devourment
Trap Them
Catheter
Agenda of Swine
Pretty Little Flower
Complete Failure
Hero Destroyed
Bolt Thrower has released this bit of news regarding their first trip to the USA in 14 years:
“Due to the fact that we are not real festival lovers or great fans of flying, the chances of us ever coming to the States for a one-off show was always very small. But after years of relentless emails from Ryan we've finally given in. It's hard to believe that it's been 14 years since we last played in the US, so we are very happy to announce that we are finally coming back. Bolt Thrower will be playing Maryland Deathfest VII, on May 22-24, 2009, at Sonar, Baltimore, MD. http://www.myspace.com/marylanddeathfest
Also, in a few weeks time we will be announcing the only European festival show we will be playing next year.
We'll keep you posted on both shows as soon as we have more info.
Cheers,
Bolt Thrower”

i know Marduk have had trouble getting into the country in the past, i really hope that doesn't screw anything up. i am going to pray for an Exhumed reunion.
great, consider it a plan then. Because it's definite that we are going, and we definately have more room in the car. (as of right now) So you now have a reserved seat. I can't offer all the seats because it's not my car, it's Jon's (darkwar) but nonetheless, i am sure he would be cool with at least you coming mark.
REN- (bob) the rev's right. You need to come to this. Gimme a call this afternoon, or tomorrow sometime, and we can find out for sure if you can ride with us.
haha! Ok ok fine! I'll come! I'm still looking into my finances for I have plans to go to a couple other fests next year, so I may get a one or two day pass depending. However, 50 bands? Would be totally worth it! Also going with you guys would be heck of a lot of fun! haha
The only thing I need in order to get to this fest is getting a new job. The job I've had for the past 4 years needs me EVERY Memorial Day weekend since it's the absolute busiest weekend of the entire year for our market. The job hunt continues. I refuse to miss this.
I am a homosexual for not being able to afford stuff like this.

WHY CAN'T SOME OF THESE BANDS COME TO MASS???????
Immolation is from NY it's not that long of a drive to MASS!
Why can't the Worcester Metalfest be this good?

I think this is a good place to point out how homosexual the NEMHF has become.

You know, to repeat some of the sentiments on the MDF board, Lack of Interest really needs to get on this shit!
BACKED 1,000,000 %
i fucking love Lack Of Interest!
their split with Spazz might be the best thing ever recorded.
"My Life" is one of my all time favorite songs, it gets stuck in my head constantly.
ya know what? we need a fucking thrash, crust, grind, and powerviolence fest. Dont care about your erection and if you mix all of them then you will have an apple pie.... CRAP
New England promoters......PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!
now that would give me a permanant erection.
post by orgymf@work at Jan 16,2009 3:15pm

Yellow Machine Gun
Spazz
Fetus Eaters
Fuck On The Beach
Discordance Axis
324
Infest
Ausrotten
Assholeparade
Ass Spatula
Drunken Orgy of Destruction
etc.

Based on the expected final number of festival attendees, we followed through with plans to have a main stage outside. The second stage will be the main room stage that has served as our only stage at Sonar in the past. The outside stage has to end at 11 PM, hence no bands being scheduled to play past that time.
The festival entrance will now be outside and the area will be contained with fence. Plenty of security and other friendly fellows will be on hand to help point you in the right direction to the entrance, and parking availability in the lot across from Sonar will not be interfered with.
Vendors/distros can be found in the same rooms as previous years.
More food vendors will also be at the festival this year, including vegetarian options that aren't just cheese pizza.
"We definitely did not expect it to happen [this] way when we started," says co-organizer Evan Harting via telephone from his Baltimore home. "The whole idea started off as a small one-day fest. We seem to be doing something almost impossible to find in the United States. There isn't really anything like this at all."

Nice. And damn, I can't believe they are only 24 and 22 years old.
Seriously, at age 24 all I'm doing is working at a synagogue and a movie theater. Those guys are running one of the biggest metal festivals in the world... damn...
