I'm so excited I can no longer edit the title of threads on this fucking board.

I'm just excited to play somewhere with a sound guy who can probably figure out the complexities of "iPod into mixing board". Bonus points if he doesn't mind a good old fashioned beer shower.

Word on the street is that Conan O'Brien himself is making an appearance and will be introducing bands - can you confirm this?
Die On The Steps? Mike, is this your new project? Death in June and Bathory mixed together sounds interesting! So will this be sort of Neo folk meets Viking era Bathory or Satanic era Bathory?
yeah it's all me. its not that metal at all but the viking bathory stuff is an influence for me. it's more like death in june meets oi meets laibach kind of thing if that makes any sense. i will post the myspace/demo1 later on tonight. my full vision is not complete but it is just the first demo.

Sounds cool... What instruments do you use? I like the idea of more experimental stuff like this coming out around here.
post by CNV at Jun 2,2008 4:54pm
Mike, I have an experimental thing I have been workin on called Perception. In the vein of Blood Axis, NON, Death In June. We should do a split.
WOW! Mike, Die on the Steps is EXCELLENT. We needed something like this. Very unique (to my ears) LAST CHANCE!
post by DJ DEATH at Jun 8,2008 4:48pm
And Jim, HERUGRIM is fucking awesome, I need a demo. Itll be perfect for those woodland fires i throw. I hope you can make it to one of them. It would be good to hang again.
no problem.. thanks man!
I'll let you know when we have the demo/ep/album (something) recorded.
we're aiming for autumn.
you making it down to this show?
I remember wathing that bit on Saturday night live...live when I was little, it scared me for a while thinking the shark could be anywhere....wow jaws made me run to and from places in my house. Sick film!! oh yeah the show.cannot wait to play!!
i just got a car, so i want to try and make it out to this. i am very interested in seeing Herugrim. though it wouldn't surprise me if its just Steve sitting on stage banging on a bunch of 5 gallon buckets screaming "LULZ, YOU'VE BEEN SCREWED BY THA INTERWEBS LULZ!" over and over for 30 minutes.
This is becoming moar and moar likely.

Rich, do you need a last minute replacement?
Andyboy, you still coming?
post by aril at Jun 12,2008 3:39pm
and rev - you coming to take pics of infamous DYA?
Nah, not much point. I'd rather let the bands be able to play longer than someone getting on the day before the show when it's too late for them to promote it and bring anny heads through the door.
herugrim sample sounds cool. you guys got anymore stuff recorded?
More of that take, but that's from a wicked early practice - it's not really to the point where we'd want anybody to hear it. Hopefully over the next week or two we can get another practice take now that we actually know the songs. (Larissa, you up for recording us again some night?)
Wait, I thought no one cares about Blessed Offal because Andrew's not in the band. Doesn't them not playing therefor make this THE GREATEST SHOW IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE?!

Your anti-science fascinates me; I wish to hear more.

by that logic every show we don't play is the greatest show in the universe, and thats a lot of shows.
and following your logic further, one could postulate the existance of a universe where bizzarro blessed offal is playing the best show in their respective universe tomorrow night, completely sober, after which each member will return to leading their happy and successful lives.

I literally just got back from Friendly's, where I told my girlfriend that on Bizarro World, Bizarro Katie was putting ketchup on the right side of her cheeseburger. (Crazy bitch puts it on the non-cheese side. *shudder*)
Probably every third superfluous, unnecessary (and parenthetical) word that trips off my tongue and/or keyboard is as a direct result of that man's writing.
cool, i would like to hear more. the production is really good considering its just a practice. looking forward to the set.
Okay, I've uploaded a short clip of one of the songs we'll be playing tomorrow (today). It's from an unreleased demo thing I did a few years back. songs better now.

weird ass request...but is there any room for a sludge/stoner metal in the vein of mastodon vs. clutch to play this? they are called workhorse from denver, co.
A Snoodle's Tale is the 22nd episode in the VeggieTales animated series, released on Novmember 2003 and May 2004 on both DVD and VHS formats. Subtitled "A Lesson in Self Worth", the episode focuses on teaching viewers that they are special in God's eyes, that they don't need to have extraordinary talents or resort to gimmicks to be worthy individuals.
The episode contains two main features. The first is a parody of Robert Louis Stevenson's novel The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. The second is the story of a small whimsical creature called a Snoodle who is suffering through a crisis of self-esteem. The narration is done in the style of Dr. Seuss, deftly capturing his iconic cadence, rhyme schemes, nonsense phraseology, and fanciful sense of place.
Die on the steps: i had no clue who or what to expect. When i got here, everyone was saying it was one dude and a 4 track. Yep, that's what it was. Who ever the guy was, he came out looking like a chechen terrorist. I thought he was going to slit my throat when he flipped me off. The music was programmed neoclassical stuff. Sort of reminded me of some of the early 90's pissed off, lowfi version of eyeless in gaza/christian death/current 93. synths, acustic guitar, mostly talking vocals. Whoever this guy was, he has some bad allergies.
Aaron, you're a fucking maniac. How do you have these up before I even get home?
HAD A FUCKING BLAST. So much fun meeting folks, so much fun seeing folks I haven't seen in forever (10 years in at least one instance), so much fun seeing the bands and SO MUCH FUN doing our thing. Sorry for forgetting several thousand people I should have thanked on stage - somehow I got slightly drunk before we went on. Glad some folks were into what we're doing; I really enjoy playing it. Great time; would do it again in a heartbeat.
Speaking of which - COME OUT ON SATURDAY. Wheelchair space, Worcester, kegstands and halfpipes; BE THERE.
would have been there if i could have found someone to ride up with me... shit would have cost my broke ass about $50 in gas... of course, the PBR would have run about $40, but that's another issue altogether.
This was one of the best local shows I've been to in a good while. Herugrim were the surprise of the night! Fuck yeah. We gotta do another show together.
Die On the Steps was way better than I imagined, and I imagined it to be awesome. Awesome job Mike.
Great WT set too. LOVED playing this shit. Needs to happen again.

... that's right, I'M BLAMING THE JEWS
If I didn't have to work till 10pm last night I would have went with you. Looks like this was an excellent show, wish I could have been there.
looks like a fun show. witchtomb is always a good time. the other two i haven't heard but would be interested to hear them. die on the steps sounds like something i'd be into.
Anyone see Rich an get paid???????????????? He was gone byt the end of the nigth????

There must've been a shitload of people that got in free, or it's just how much O'Briens takes from the door, but I had enough to give money to Witch Tomb and put gas in my car to get back home. As far as I knew you guys [Heregrim] took off when DYA said good night.
I mean, I'm a scumbag and just rip bands off to make millions at these superstar rock concerts.

I'm the PT Barnum of metal shows that .001% of the population of Boston cares about.
Rich Jim and I were there till closing and and left when Larissa and Dan etc..were closing the bar. That was when OB closed the doors and if not we were outside the door. I just wish we could of gotten something out of the show, besides a great crowd. I appreciate the show, but it cost us gas to get out gear there and back, even if it is down the street. Glad that WT got money but for the three bands that played, we all should of gotten something for at least playing and showing up. Oh well...welcome to the boston metal scene!!!

I understand, and I'm sorry. I live an hour away and had no gas and the club always insists I go there so shit runs smooth. So I needed at least enough to put in my tank so I wouldn't end up a permanent resident of Allston. And again, I didn't see any of you guys after Steve said he had to take off.
Also I just bought a new sports car from the millions I stole from this show.
Herugrim and Shroud of Bereavement would be an AWESOME combination!
do it do it do it

Dan, you still interested in helping us record our acoustics when we're recording? I think you mentioned that to me at the show. I was listening to some of your stuff last night and I love the acoustic sound!

Sounds like Rich who ran this and from the pictures the place was full and many beers had. So the place lied to Rich or did not charge, does not sound like he cared, just a thief. SHouldn't Rich be watching so he can see how much money he brings in and not let the club take what it can when the bands bring in the patrons. Well I guess he does not care. So basically the promoter got the money and then decided to pay one of three bands that played and himself. So you basically paid yourself to see some bands and get home and not pay all the bands that made this happen. Since at least of three out of the four or five bands showed up. tha is low!!
post by aril at Jun 16,2008 3:50pm
I personally don't care about money unless it was absolutely guaranteed; which I didn't even hear anything about. I just want to get out and play a set, especially considering that was our 2nd show. I'll start thinking about money on like our 30th show maybe.

sounds reasonable.
YOU ARE PLAYING AT A DIVE BAR, NOT THE FUCKING GARDEN!!

LOL

In addition:
If you think the payout at the end of the night is any fraction of the money that the bar makes from beer/booze, you are a sad and clueless moron. The club takes what it does because THAT'S HOW CLUBS WORK, PROFESSOR. Bar manager, booker [the club's booker, not me], soundguy, doorguy. They all get a cut before I'm handed anything. And that's just what I know about. I think there's also extra percentages for the club itself, money for new sound gear [LOL], etc.

OH THE DRAMA
post by aril at Jun 16,2008 4:32pm
bah, who cares about the money thing right now. I'm just grateful to have played a show - our first show in MA. it was an awesome time.
if i had known that herugrim didnt get anything i would have gladly given you guys half of what was in our envelope that obriens gave to rich. that little amount of cash was gone 10 mins after the show though. sorry guys.
herugrim: a third wave sounding black metal. It's stuff that I like, but I like bands like borknagar that a lot of tr00 g1rm kvlt black metal people probably would turn their nose up at. Besides the fact that I couldn't hear DYA singing (or when he was talking), it sounded good to me. all those people that couldn't heard aril's guitar probably weren't standing right next to it for most of the set (same with mike's during witchtomb). Funny that seth gets up at points and plays while walking around and getting a drink. I think he will eventually get one of those super slider moves like in megaman so he can slide back and forth in hyper-speed to hit whatever. after that, he will shoot pac-mac dots at the drum set from up on a ladder.
witchtomb: the first 1/2 of the first song was probably the best thing I have ever heard them do. everything (once again, I was standing on the side with the guitar that was too quiet) came together just right. especially the sampler. after this song the keys were way too loud and didn't lay right in the music. from the pictures, you can tell that jay hasn't been given tenure yet. Once he does, he will get his own tube of charcoal to rub on his face. please speculate on the patterns he will choose.
post by aril at Jun 16,2008 4:56pm
my cab was kind of buried in the corner and I was standing in front of it too, which probably didn't help.
we also didn't do a soundcheck as a band.... we should have.

He has to beat Cutman before he can do that. Also he will have a killer limit break that takes like 10 minutes to do.
Yeah I get up because there are long parts in there that i dont do anything... that actually was the first time i ever got up during a set and was not going anything... Rather then going from one song to another. Sorry i did not know that you could not hear the singing...that sucks but he people liked it anway... Glad to hear that!!
