Melt Banana is an awesome live band. I can't stand listening to their records though.
I bought Charlie when it came out because it had the drummer from Multiplex. Boring as fuck. But when they played the Middle East up a few months later I went to check them out anyways because they had the drummer from Satanic Hell Slaughter touring with them. They blew me away. Their cover of Surfin' USA ruled, and then they covered Neat Neat Neat. I bet they're the only band to cover both the Beach Boys and the Damned in the same set. Since then I go see them every few years or so.
They never disappoint.
I tried to see them the next year at the Middle East up but it was sold out. The next year they played TTs and sold that out, but they also played a free show at Tufts University so I saw them there. The past few year they've been playing the Middle East down. Last time I saw them there the place was packed. If they sell it out this year they're going to have to move to Axis or Avalon or something.

that reminds me of this horrendous band called Melt we played with one time at The Crypt, they were definitely the worst band i've ever seen. the guitarist looked identical to Chris Elliot. they were trying to do this 50's and 60's style, i couldn't believe we were stuck on a bill with them.
