troll: 7-7:30
csdo: 7:45-8:15
steel assassin: 8:30-9
meliah rage: 9:15-9:45
chris caffery: 10-10:30
belladonna: 10:45-11:30
doro: 11:45-1am |
troll: 7-7:30 I remember them comin' "around these parts" a year or two ago. I tried to catch them once at the middle east, but missed them outside with tickets by acouple minutes so didn't go in. I had listened to the CD and it was decent rock-metal. Live, they were a lot more heavey metal. The lead singer/guitarist busted out plenty of good/interesting riffs. Sounded a lot like metal bands from the late 80's |
oh yeah, it seems like todd knows nu-metal band more than I. till we die was leviticus and thy will be done was some other nu-metal band before. |
csdo: 7:45-8:15 eh, they were ok once they got going. I think I've been spoiled by seeing them with a second guitarist. Eric seemed to hasitate a few times at the beginning whether to sing or to play, but after a couple songs, he got back into it. the sound from the drums sounded weird too. I could more feel the triggers than hear them. And the whole sound was just sort of compressed. Not sure why. Well, compress with the tic-a-tic-a triggers over them. Funny note: when they played nitromethane, there was car racing on the TVs. Eric tried to get the crowd to do jumping jacks, push ups or sit ups during the their set... This is not a physical crowd. I'm betting the last time they did that was either for the president's physical fitness test (the first bush presidency) or the week they tried to get in shape when the had their mid-life crisis (week? Who am I kidding! It was 3 days tops! Plus, why work out when there's liposuction and convertibles?). |
steel assassin: 8:30-9 weren't these guys bigger than meliah rage at some point? their set was so surprisingly good. The vocals were similar to early 90's iron madien vocals (i don't remember who the vocalist was for them then). they pumped the crowd up a lot and people started to pack up a little bit. After seeing them, they definitely play more like a headliner band than meliah rage. they have that "we're the end of the show" quality to their set that bands (once they achieve) is hard to get rid of once you aren't headlining. plus, all their songs are really up beat. time to pull out all my old steel assassin LPs. |
chris caffery: 10-10:30 apparently he was in sabotage. They played quickly, complained about the time and did some sabotage covers. (he also said he's playing geetar for doro). His solo stuff reminded me of how devin townsend's band sounds. |

FUDGING FUDGE FUDGE FUDGE!!!! |
rttp is experiencin troubles |
what troubles? was there an sql error? it's got to be that friggin activeation.com mit thing. I need to fix that.
belladonna: 10:45-11:30 even though this dude is basically the house band at clubs around here and plays for shows that all the local bands AND that guy from soulfly combined, I've never caught him before. They started like 15 minutes late. the drummer's whole kit was triggered. Joey had those $$ ear monitors. eh, I make fun of him, but the set was nice and high-energy. In the end, they did caught in a mosh and anti-social (and other songs that jonah's band covers). I really can't complain about anything. Well.. Except for joey's skin. The tone was really hard to snap pictures of. |
BTW,I'm at home working on the pictures. this dude was looking at me ultra-creep-ily in one of the doro shots.
oh and there is a surprise in the doro shots for megan.. |
pictures are processin now. |
great show...cool pics as usual. I see there are no anderson tit shots, Maybe there is something to this sober non drinking anderson after all. |
Hey ,at least I kept with tradition of flippin you off in almost every pic you take of me haha . |
someone's playing hard to get. |
paganmegan meets her future self.
do I need to make a this, his test? |
I can see megan pulling doro's soul out and coving herself with it. |
That pic is pretty freaky |
hahahah I like have my finger in my mouth like doctor evil or something, thats too funny. |
Man, what an awesome lineup. Kinda wish I had gone. |
Doro was fucking incredible.
What's this picture you speak of Reverend? |

Yes, Caffery was in Savatage. Can't remember how long/what albums he was on off the top of my head, though. |
I think Chris was on the following...
Gutter Ballet
Dead Winter Dead
Wake of Magellan
Poets and Madmen |
Savatage not sabotage... when ever he said it, I had the stupid beastie boys song in my head. |
Fuck, I can't believe Steel Assassin played this... |
Doro and Steel Assassin were outstanding. Doro impressed the fuck out of me. |
Greggadeth! Whats up man?! |
Damn, who wouldn't want to throat fuck Doro?!?!? |
Not into blonds. But what a kick ass singer.
We played with Doro the previous night in Hartford, she was amazing there as well. I couldn't believe how consistently awesome her vocals were, song after song - practically studio quality. No singer out there right now, female or male, metal or otherwise, can claim to be any better than Doro in terms of consistently excellent live performance. |
Her bass player was wicked cool, too, got to talk to him for a minute; he was nice enough to say he liked our set and that our stuff was really well-written; usually touring bands don't even bother to check out the openers, so it was a nice surprise that he took the time to watch us and let us know what he thought. (The guy looks a lot like our old photographer/website designer, ironically enough.) |

I think your in luck then, cause I'm pretty sure the carpets don't match the curtains.
*nyuk nyuk*

Can anyone tell me if they were seeing a lot of the dancers while attending the show at Mark's in Bedford? I would love to see some shows there but my wife wouldn't be very happy if strippers were walking by us all the time. Thanx. |
you basically never see them. they stay in the showplace side. |
I have never been to the showplace side and only once (the first show I went to there) did girl dance on the stage in the rock side. it was pretty lame and they were only there for like 1 song. |
Heh, we played there with Krokus in September '05, and Mark's sent a couple strippers up to dance with our set; problem is, we play gothic/thrashy metal with a female singer - we're not Motley Crue - so it made about as much sense as if they sent them up there during Doro's set.
So yeah, pretty lame is right. |
