New site? Maybe some day.

ok,i record direct and i don't feel like arguing about it,that's just how i roll, over the last 6 years i have tried everything flaming digitech,pod,line6 piece of shit you can name, and i have spent about $3000 looking for "the sound" that always eluded me, i am now the proud owner of a boss mt2"metal zone 2" for $100 i got the best sound i have ever heard direct! and there isn't 8999888848488884940 million buttons and flashing lights,it's just a friggin pedal,so simple and so good, i highly recommend this to anyone who is trying to record direct,i imagine it sounds even better through an amp{if you have a lot of sympathy for those people} |
leave your mom out of this |
ugh...I have that pedal and I've been keeping away from it for years...
get a tube amp and stay away from that tone sucking crap |
you're out of your tits kid! this thing rules! |
its a classic.. I cant say much more than buy a good tube amp, still rocking out on my practice amp with it ...so dont think Im not saying its dece |
The metal zone is a bit to sensative when shaping and only like 1 or two settings sound good. It's a bit easier to work with when you have an eq pedal with it.
I always prefer amp distortion. |
are we talking about the same pedal here? this a newer one,a remake of the classic and it has a parametric(kind of) eq on it... |
i dont mind that pedal, but samica (hail the leaf) lives and dies by it. |
I guess I'll never trust a distortion or overdrive pedal outside of a Tube Screamer |
brian_dc said: http://www.bosscorp.co.jp/products/en/MT-2/
yes. That's the one.
If you absolutely hate the sound of your mids, get one...it sucks em right on out. |
yes that's it! i can't believe anyone wouldn't love it,it is extremely sensitive and you can cover the whole range with it especially mids,,maybe it sucks through an amp but i have it plugged straight into my computer and i have never heard better |
brian_dc said: I guess I'll never trust a distortion or overdrive pedal outside of a Tube Screamer |
hahah that's funny one of my first ideas was to fire a tube screamer behind it if it sucked but it's great without it |
I guess if I was ever recording direct I'd just want to get a POD. I dunno, I'm a sucker for tube amp distortion...and tube screamers are a good boost pedal |

anyone that would swear by direct clearly has absolutely no god damn clue how a good recording is made.
distinction, warmth, and tone are what makes your record what it is |

is that what your extensive experience has led you to believe? jerkoff! |
that's the truth of the matter. A crispy, emotionless tone just impresses your college/high school buddies but won't sell an album
the only good direct sound I ever heard was the Porphyria disc
anyway, I think you could get a good direct sound but swearing by it like you do is g4y 2 th3 m4x |
i'm waiting for blue to post in this thread saying he was the anonymous poster and just fucking with us. |

but just for the record..
1.who the fuck are you
2.what the fuck do you know
3.what the fuck have you done
? |
1. Groucho Marx
2. The circumference of the Earth at the equator is 24,902 miles.
3. Your mom. |
who the fuck are you to ask who the hell nick is, when you wont even log in to tell us all of your tone mastery with DIRECT RECORDING WITH A METAL ZONE??!??!!!?
dude, if you think recording direct with that thing is awesome, just wait til you put it in front of your crate gx212 combo!! youll feel the br00thul! |
haha...I love how the new thing is to at the "th" lisp to everything.
I can't wait for my Powerball to come in. |
still waiting nick,i'm sure the list of blues many accomplishments would change my mind to |
Blue is probably one of the most knowledgeable gearheads I've ever met. |
list of accomplishments... |

it's not what I know, dear friend, it's what all the great producers and engineers of all time know
I heard Led Zeppelin, Sabbath, The Who, Hendrix, The Rolling Stones all recorded direct with a metal zone, too.
what are you looking for dude?
they've played in bands, recorded...I don't know, they haven't toured with kensusi.com but I think they're pretty good. |
Johnny Cash swears by the MT-2.
FROM THE GRAVE |
you entirely missed the point here,,i'm not saying anyone should or shouldn't record direct,i'm saying i do,and i wish i found this pedal years ago because it would have saved me a lot of money and aggravation,i started this thread in the hopes of maybe helping someone else out who is trying to record direct,,i really don't care about your opinion on the subject, but you had to start acting like a cunt so please,,the list of YOUR accomplishments/extensive experience... |

let's hear the list of yours
I've done the MZ direct before and it's dry and shitty, so I'm curious where YOUR expertise comes in |

yes. That's the one.
If you absolutely hate the sound of your mids, get one...it sucks em right on out. |
mids are what makes a guitar a guitar |
i've had to record direct as well...with the metal zone
it's always worked fine for me.
it works good on the bass as well. |
this clearly comes down to a matter of taste.
Person who doesn't like the metal zone likes a natural "live" sound
Person who likes the metal zone likes the dry "studio" sound
Person who supports midgetry should be ashamed |

taste or maybe even necessitty,in my situation direct is the only way to go,i would love to have 48 marshall fullstacks in my living room turned up to 11 but that just isn't practical, and if i was trying to sell albums i wouldn't record them myself to begin with, for me it's a hobby, something i've always done and enjoyed, and to finally find a pedal{and such a simple one} that can give me real close to the sound i've always wanted makes me very happy, hopefully someone else who is trying to get a good direct sound will read this and save themselves the trouble i went through buying other stuff |

did you read the first post of this thread or just go straight to the direct recording bashing? |

i love you, matt rowe. you can do no wrong. |

I hear you. But I have a hard time grasping that you can't get a better tone and more tones at the end of the day with a POD.
It shouldn't have turned into a pissing match, but this is a messageboard...so yes it should have. |
to my credit, I immediately started bashing the pedal for what it is. |

well i only love you, like ill smoke weed with you, talk trash and give you a high five till you have cancer. but if you want physical man on man love thats all rich horror's business |
yeah i have the older pod 2.0 and it defines the sound really well and is as close to a real amp as i have heard but i just can't get the edge out of it,,and putting pedals in front of or behind it just makes my living room a disaster and causes earsplitting feedbacks at random times,,even got a few mexican radio stations in there!

I WILL HEADBUTT ANY FUCKER THAT COMES UP TO ME WITH BULLSHIT |
sleep sweet prince, sleep. |
i will kill you if you ever do that again, this is serious no joke |
you're writing checks your body can't cash son! i'd slap you around like the skinny little bitch we all know you are |
I will kill anyone who ever talks about headbutts ever again, this is serious no joke and the prohibition of droppin' e-bombs ever again is also serious, which implicity is no joke.
Also recording direct makes the tooth fairy molest your child, if you are to ever have children.
=summary of thread |
i stopped reading half way down, and im still laughing...ill read the rest some other day |
the metal zone works great through a clean channel with a lot of balls like mine does
i need a new one though...the one i use now has been beat to shit
the only complaint i have had is recording with it, but using a tube amp as a second layer always thickens things up |
Fuck Metalzone
It's all about the Dan Electro BBQ-Tuna-N-Cheese-Pizza Fuzztortion pedal! |
brian_dc said: If you absolutely hate the sound of your mids, get one...it sucks em right on out. |
AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHHA
or you can go buy a old Peavey Ultra 100 Vac Tube head, that had no mids at all either, and every hardcore band in the Merrimack Valley area had at least 1 in their band back when I was in highschool. |
