I really wanted to see cryptic warning and wasteform too. |
thats why your the metal guitar player, and im the hardcore one. haha. were a gimmick |
sick...I was looking forward to all the bands you mentioned though, I was just adding on...
that means I just like more stuff....hell, I like Throwing Shrapnel. |
so you like the whole show pretty much right brian? ha |
any music (that I feel is genuine and not produced just for the sake of making money or under the illusion that it is the best music ever created and the creators deserve massive amounts of respect and you suck if you don't like the greatest music in the world, etc....) is cool by me
bump...silly two shows in one day, what are we thinking? |
brian_dc said: bump...silly two shows in one day, what are we thinking? |
probably that gas grows on trees |
they're both pretty close to us...we think |
yeah, our journey is overrated (10 miles to seekonk from practice space/30 miles from seekonk to middletown/13 miles from middletown to practice space)
so...not bad |

haha, we tricked you... we're soooo getting rich!
t.s. = endless money pit so they can finance their metalcore band (their true desire) |
dammit, who leaked that information out |
the old reverse-Goratory. ha...sounds like a wrestling move |
I'm going to this, unless they changed my shift around. |

El Justin, bring mucopus and other goodies for me.
I think you guys used my pictures for somethign that you were suppose to give me a copy of... if it was a CD/7", I would like 2 copies.
Also, anyon with demos/CDs who wants to give them too me, make sure you don't forget. |
shitty, we just got a sample back of a mastered track but we don't have the whole thing...we'd give you the one song but it's the only long song we still have...if you feel like eating up 6:50 of time on a show we can make a CD of that one song. Other songs are shorter, but we don't have the mastered stuff yet. |
rev we'll give you a demo, but once we are done recording again, we'll give you a better one. |
ill be coming from soa practice spot with a freshly mixed copy of our full length, itll still need to be mastered the following week but hey itll be mixed ha |
Make sure you get there early, we might fill capacity. |
Proteus will have free demos at this piece, although if you'd like feel free to give us booze for a copy. |

we should have our two shorter, unmastered songs for you at this, rev. |
we're leaving soon, hopefully we'll be able to catch most of the bands today |
who wants to be awesome and give me a ride to this show? |
im, leaving now.
blue, f you are on my way, I'll pick you up.
I'm going 95 to 93 to 95. |
nevermind, i definetly cant stretch the 12 bucks right now. |
el justin, you are going to miss proteus... I think you would like them, too. |
I'm here now, mega easy to find. oh, and there is a spighetti dinner here from 4pm to 7pm for a $5 donation. they are going to lose $$ on that if all the metalkids come out. |
the show started really late, but with all the line up changes, that was a good idea. The cause was the lack of a PA and not too many people being present. the kid booking this show has never booked a show before. I was giving him some pointers earlier... let's hope he follows them.
kirkbride complex, the: sick vocals. From the last time I saw them, I didn't know they would fit this show, but some of their stuff was like TYAG. and other parts towards the end were more groovey like commit suicide. There was also a "hardcore" feel to it so people could dance, it there were to so choose. Sort of like bitgota. They played completely in the dark so my flashes were like daggers stabbing everyone in the face/eyes.
all I have to say about that is "Ha" and "Ha". |
hm.. The promoter could be a little more forceful getting the bands up and playing. I have a feeling this show is going to run late.
proteus: awesome! I got a demo from them. I was hope el justin and more people would get out to this show to see them. It seems like a lot of people were into it. One kid dance for them. Their music was very full and heavy sounding. I think it had to do with the 2 1/2 stacks for the guitars and the 2 bass cabs. Matt's vocals, though not as loud as joey IDN's vocals, run a similar gambit. The disgusting lows and shrill hi-pitched inhales. They have tons of slamy, breakdownish parts, but they cut them off just when kids would start dancing which I found highly amusing. there are also some "ambient" parts like throwing shrapnel used to do. These parts reminded me of the old hellraiser sound track. They "ended" their set with a ton of feedback. But matt got up and started screaming and the other guys joined him to play another song. |
10 bands left....
deathamphetamine: it's funny about the new exodus song title, couse the sound a little similar. Deathamphetamine is just more thrashy. reminded me for of the forsaken or a band like that; trashy, but with a touch of swedish sound to it. They have some falsetto vocals which rule.
9.... Left...
Dour Curvisa: they gave me the 2 song unmstered this that was talked about previously. it's like their 2nd song that totally reminds me of someone. I just can't remember who... Same band as the last time I couldn't remember. The departed and last chance guys backed them up through the clapping parts. |
last chance to reason: I don't think I've seen them before. They are from maine.. I think.. The samples they played were perfectly intergrated Into their set. they sounded a lot like BMA bands like FASSW. The crowd was right up in the front, but with all the dancing, they cleared out and moved back quickly. some of their samples were from aquateen hunger force. I don't like that show so I don't know.
departed, the: their set probably had the most amount of people dancing that night. other than that, it sounded good. During their set, brian (throwing shrapnel) and I decided to walk around in the 20' span between the band and the crowd, it started a wave-of-moshilation. I have a feeling that a lot of people are leaving after the departed's set. Let's see if I'm right. |
??? left. I don't think the finite showed.
throwing shrapnel: yeah, aot of the crowd took off so ts had a small crowd. They did have someone moshing for one of their songs. I'm not joking either, honest to goodness moshing. They played the same set as last night, but there were many pauses at all so they got through it quickly. Hey, did I mentiong that they had someone dancing for them? Actually at the end, there was a gaggle of highschool girls dancing for them |
cryptic warning: it's always a good thing when people say "whoah" to your sound check. These thrash metal kicks are completely nuts in you face. I'm not sure if this is their last show or not. The guy who put the show on was trying to get all of them to disrobe. New song? They played a new song. I guess this is for the cryptic warning sequal band. |
nicaea room, the: they were missing a guitar player. People danced a lot for them. Though at one point, some girl starte trying to beat up a guy. That was pretty priceless. Of course, my shot of it didn't come out. They played their last song and their second guitarist walked in so they got to play another song with him before they were done. I'm not positive, but I think every song they played was about an astronaut. |
I finally got my tacobell. I wanted it allday, since the ts guys so rudely came in with it. didn't have my # to call me? lame excuse. www, I know its you calling and hanging up at night.
oh, thanks el justin for the tip on the cheesey rice & bean. it was very good and at $.99, even homeless guys can recognize. |

wooo...back from our 2 show day...good time....my right ring finger might be broken...we'll see. |
thanks for coming down rev, wish more kids were there...that floor was slick eh? |
eh, it was a good weekend got to hangout with dour cursiva all weekend and see the departed, cryptic warning (well three of their songs) and deathamphetamine tonight. cant beat that with a stick folks. |
it was a great night even if it wasnt as packed as we all had thought it would be.
deathamphetamine was awesome, i cant believe they wanted to keep to 15 minute sets...thats bull shit. LCTR drove from maine heh 15 minutes is nothing.
throwing shrapnel was right as balls, best set ive seen from them, so fuckin loud heh.
big props to dour cursiva, 3 shows in 24 hours, woo woo |
the pics look great rev, ive been keeping myself awake to see them. thanks for starting the mosh too hah |
Hey Rev. the band is called Stars Fell on. Thanks for taking some quality pictures. |
i just got home, i'm really tired |
also i caught most of the proteus set, interesting stuff and really awesome guys. too bad they couldn't stay too long |
rev, thanks for coming out the past couple of days. your going to have to come to one of those barn shows in middletown we were telling you about. they usually have about 7-8 bands, and around 100 kids show up. and its in a barn, im sure thatd make for some sweet shots. thanks again man. see ya soon. |

I got one once and it sucked. They put chicken in it, so I brought it back and was like "Dude, there's not supposed to be chicken in this and furthermore I specifically said to you 'Please do not put any meat at all in it, whether it's supposed to be there or not'". They then gave me two new ones that were basically cheese whiz and rice. |
yeah, but it's cheezwiz and rice FOR 99 MOTHER FUCKIGN SENSE! |
hah that happend to our guitarist jeff. he cant eat processed red-meat, he is exrtemely allerigc to it. so he got a 1/2 pound burrito, i think it was bean and beef or something, he was like "can you put chicken in it instead, im allergic to red-meat" they said ok. sure enough its full of kibble. so on the way out we threw a giant mountain dew behind the counter. yes. |
not for nothing, Rev, but it's spelled "Seekonk" not "Seakonk"
though I like your spelling better...makes more sense. |
wouldnt seaconch make the most sense?
the density of the cheesy bean and rice burrito is beyond belief. 1/2 pound for 99 cents? GIVE IT GIVE IT GIVE IT. |
I agree with the two previous posts fully
awesome seeing you guys again, hunter
totally missed out with having to leave before wasteform |
On why The Finite didn't play, Steve just quit the band so they are short a guitarist. So I asume thats why they didn't play. |
I would just like to say thanks to everyone who came out to this. Its too bad more people didn't go because they missed a lot of good music. Everyone in Proteus had a great time. Mad props to all the bands, and especially to the Rev for his marathon-like endurance. We'll be making more free demos to pass around, so if you didn't get one drop me a line and I will make sure to send one to you via mail.
Also, Taco Bell doesn't hold a candle compared to Moe's. |
auburn system, the: long time since I've seen these guys. I heard that matt wasn't in the band anymore. They moved members around, putting regan back on bass and moving the bass to guitar. These guys have been touring like this for the passed month so they worked well together. A bunch of people danced around for them, clearing the floor.
XStars Fell OnX: the drove 80 miles to get 8 minutes before wasteform. I think they claimed to be from alabama. There was an extra set of equipment on the side so I knew there had to be another band. They played hardcore sort of like death threat stile. All the kids that had stayed danced around a lot and threw chairs, garbage cans, etc... |
stars go on was really good, also cryptic warning rocked and the cd is great |
oops, it was stars fell on... not starts go on. |
check em out!

they are playing the Feb 3rd show at the Woburn Methodist Church with Ed gein, Through the eyes of the dead, Despised Icon, In dire need, War on our shores |
Thanks to anyone who watched and had some fun.
We are actually playing Feb. 3rd with In dire need, Architect, war on our shores, backstabbers inc, what once was, porphyria, waking judea, and the world we knew. NOT the despised icon show.
feel free to check out our songs and add us on myspace.com/xstarsfellonx |
I wiil probably be at both shows |
ok.. I can't seem to post my wasteform review from my phone.. |
wasteform: so, I was just realizing that I've seen these guys a ton of times. It seems that they are forever having line up changes. Currently, they only have justin on guitars. They lost the guy that jumped and danced sort-of-nu-metally. The only constant is tiny. Probably one of my favorite front man in a dm band and one of the nicest dudes (especially when he's nicely toasted). they sounded really good in that wide open room and all the kids that stayed had fun circle pitting, headbanging, and basically just going apeshit for them. I go to a lot of hardcore shows and a lot of metal shows so when the two "cultures" are together at one show, having a blast, it's awesome. there were a lot of people who I know are wasteform fans that didn't show. It would have been awesome if more people showed up to see them, but whatever. Their set was still a good time. even though justin doesn't miss a beat even when he's getting molested from the crowd. I think they should look for a second guitar player to add to the live set. On CD it doesn't matter cause you can multi-track things, but live it would.
Oh, where is the bassist from? I forget what band he was in. |
adam told me the bass player joaquin, was in detriment and did the samples for skinless. |
yeah akim was the guitarist for detriment (jason from mucopus/skinless was the singer, they played one of the sick shit fests) and he toured with skinless doing samples and stuff like that. he also was the tour manager for the berzerker for a couple of years. |
Tiny is one of the best frontmen ever. I was tempted to yell "smoke crack" there, but no one woulda thought it be funny, since I've never seen any of those kids before in my life.
"Everyone put your mean face on"
"This place is like France, only less French"
"You guys in the back, come on up, you're gonna miss the break down, call AAA!"
That made my night and weekend. Thank you Wasteform, you heros of New York, you princes of destruction, you dukes of wittyness. |
haha, the place was really just like France for some odd reason. just backwards sort of. and less french. |
