I think of it as you do. megadeth to me is thrash, until cryptic writings* at least.

I don't believe thrash started out called thrash. My proposal is that it was given the thrash term, borrowed from some punkyer stuff; mass marketed that way.

Then I do agree with you, I just wasn't understanding you clearly. And CW is the album that ended it for me too. I couldn't get into Risk or anything else they did until Dave disbanded the band. I do like the newer stuff too, though, like United Abomination and Endgame. And the other one, who's name escapes me now.
