That being said, the idea earthquakes would follow the ring of fire as the pressure is "equalized" so to speak makes some sense. I think of it this way: Imagine trying to cork a bottle where the cork is just slightly too big. (I don't know why you'd cork a bottle, just finish it you pussy, but for the sake of argument...) You'd likely end up pushing in one side first, then applying pressure around the circumference until you made it fit. Its not a perfect analogy, but you get the drift...
