they were never the worlds power in europe. muslims took over as far as constantinople in turkey and made that city and country islamic and changed the name to istanbul, that's about as far and as much power as they ever got in europe.

That's inaccurate. You're forgetting the Moorish occupation of Al-Andalus between the 10th and 15th centuries. The Caliphate of Cordoba was the central non-Christian power in Europe during the 11th century, and the Caliphate exchanged embassadors with the Holy Roman Empire which itself was experiencing a period "dark ages." While the rest of Europe was plunged into the Dark Ages, Muslim occupation helped the Iberian Peninsula to flourish and produce some spectacular works of art.
